Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees
An Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) is a prestigious, integrated, international study programme, jointly delivered by an international consortium of higher education institutions.
EMJMDs award EU-funded scholarships to the best student candidates applying under annual selection rounds.
Study must take place in at least two of the Programme countries. Part of the studies can also take place in a Partner country if there is a Partner country institution involved.
Goals
- Foster quality improvements, innovation, excellence and internationalisation in higher education institutions (HEI).
- Increase the quality and attractiveness of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and supporting the EU’s external action in the higher education field by offering full degree scholarships to the best Master students worldwide.
- Improve the level of competences and skills of Master graduates, and in particular the relevance of the double degree Masters for the labour market, through an increased involvement of employers.
EMJMD scholarship
A limited number of highly competitive EMJMD scholarships, provided by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Union are available that cover participation, living and travel costs.
Please note that students …
- who have already received an EMJMD or an Erasmus Mundus Master Course/Joint Doctorate scholarship are not eligible;
- cannot receive subsistence costs in their country of residence (at the time of their application);
- have to pre-finance their travel expenses to the first year university or university where the Welcome Course takes place;
- will receive travel and installation costs on their European bank account AFTER THEIR ARRIVAL;
- have to cover their own accommodation costs during the Welcome Course, Summer School or Graduation Event;

Programme countries can fully take part in all the Actions of the Erasmus+ Programme: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom and in addition: The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia, Turkey

Get your own funding source
Besides the presented scholarship schemes a lot of other global or national organisations offer fellowships. Its strongly advised to check the different available options. Please be aware that the fellowship application process is a lengthy process. Often an admission letter is required in the fellowship application process.
