Erasmus Mundus Joint Master

Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM) are prestigious international masters, jointly designed and delivered by a group of higher education institutions.

They involve at least 3 institutions from at least 3 different countries, and multiple associated partners from the academic and non-academic world.

Typically, they include periods of study, research, traineeship, thesis preparation and defence.

Goals

  • Support for quality, innovation, excellence, and internationalization of higher education institutions through academic collaboration within and outside the European Higher Education Area (EHEA);
  • Increasing the quality and attractiveness of the EHEA;
  • Supporting the EU’s external actions in the field of higher education;
  • Enhancing synergies between higher education, innovation, and research – improving the skills, competencies, and employability of master’s graduates;
  • Responding to the needs of society and the labor market.

EMJM Scholarship

A limited number of highly competitive EMJM scholarships, provided by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Union are available that cover participation, living and travel costs.

Tuition fees and insurance are covered by programme. Scholarships are meant to cover food, accommodation and travel costs. Monthly scholarships – 1400 Euro.

Please note that students …

  • who have already received Erasmus Mundus Master Course/Joint Doctorate scholarship are not eligible;
  • cannot receive subsistence costs in their country of residence (at the time of their application);
  • have to pre-finance their travel expenses to the first year university or university where the Welcome Course takes place;
  • will receive travel and installation costs on their European bank account AFTER THEIR ARRIVAL;
  • have to cover their own accommodation costs during the Welcome Course, Summer School or Graduation Event;

Programme countries can fully take part in all the Actions of the Erasmus+ Programme: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and in addition: The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia, Turkey

Partner Countries can take part in certain Actions of the Programme, subject to specific criteria or conditions. For more information about the criteria and a list of the Partner Countries see the relevant section in the Erasmus+ Programme Guide

Get your own funding source

Besides the presented scholarship schemes a lot of other global or national organisations offer fellowships. Its strongly advised to check the different available options. Please be aware that the fellowship application process is a lengthy process. Often an admission letter is required in the fellowship application process.
