Summer School „Contribution of Animal Breeding to Global Food Security“

20 students from more than 10 different countries participated in the ELLS (Euroleague for life sciences) summer school “Contribution of Animal Breeding to Global Food Security” held at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna in Austria. The topics that were discussed ranged from livestock systems and resource efficiency via concepts of animal breeding and breeding strategies to modelling of production systems. Apart from BOKU professors, contributions were given by international experts such as Prof. Hans Komen from Wageningen University, Dr. Craig Lewis from PIC, Paul Boettcher from FAO and Ethiopian researcher Kahsa Tadel Gebre.
